Respiratory Profile, Region 15, Intermountain West (Southern ID, NV), Serum
Use
This test assesses sensitization to various inhalant allergens commonly found in the Intermountain West region, including southern Idaho and Nevada. It helps define the allergen responsible for signs and symptoms and confirms sensitization before beginning immunotherapy. This panel can also investigate the specificity of allergic reactions to insect venom allergens, drugs, or chemical allergens. It is not useful for patients previously treated with immunotherapy to determine if residual clinical sensitivity exists or when the medical management does not depend on identifying allergen specificity.
Special Instructions
Not provided.
Limitations
This test's results must be interpreted within the clinical context of the patient, including age, sex, travel history, potential allergen exposure, and family history. Some individuals with insignificant sensitivity may have measurable IgE levels, and results must be interpreted accordingly. False-positive results may occur in patients with markedly elevated serum IgE due to nonspecific binding.
