TP53 Gene Somatic Mutation Pre-Analysis Cell Sorting, Varies
Use
The test is useful for determining B-cell content and confirming the presence of a clonal B-cell population in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) patients prior to TP53 variant analysis. The presence of TP53 gene mutations is associated with poor prognosis and therapeutic resistance in CLL, thus influencing the clinical management and selection of alternative therapeutic options.
Special Instructions
This test is only orderable as a reflex and must be done before TP53 Somatic Mutation DNA sequencing, for which more information can be found under P53CA. Ensure proper specimen labeling and handling to avoid rejection due to improper conditions like hemolysis or clotted specimens.
Limitations
This test is not orderable as a standalone diagnostic and must be ordered as part of a reflex. Since the presence of a clonal B-cell population is being confirmed, additional tests may be required to corroborate findings with clinical and histopathological data. Gross hemolysis or clotted samples will result in rejection of the specimen, which may delay the process and could require repeat collection.
