Wingscale (Atriplex Canescens) IgE
Use
This test measures specific IgE antibodies to the Wingscale (Atriplex canescens) allergen. It is used to identify individuals that may be at risk for allergic reactions to this particular allergen. The detection and quantification of allergen-specific immunoglobulin E in serum helps confirm an allergy diagnosis, guide avoidance measures, and monitor the success of immunotherapy.
Special Instructions
Specimens need to be centrifuged and the serum should be aliquoted into a plastic vial. Once separated, the sample must be sent refrigerated to maintain stability. This is crucial for accurate test results.
Limitations
The test is not FDA cleared or approved. Results should be interpreted in conjunction with the patient's medical history and symptoms. Cross-reactivity with other allergens may occur, potentially leading to false positive results. External factors such as lipemia can affect sample integrity, leading to rejection.
