Anaplastic Lymphoma Kinase-1
Use
Anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) receptor aberrant protein expression, gene mutations, and fusions is observed in various cancer types including anaplastic large cell lymphoma. ALK protein detection by immunohistochemistry is used for tumor classification and may also be indicative of an underlying ALK gene mutation or translocation.
Special Instructions
Fresh Tissues: Specimens may be fixed in formalin for 24-72 hours by collection sites, then transferred to 70% ethanol and stored at 2-8°C for longer term storage if needed. This is NOT preferred. Samples must be tested within 3 months after being placed in ethanol. Unstained slides: Positively charged glass slides are required to prevent background staining and prevent tissue loss. Slides should be left unbaked.
Limitations
Stated turn-around-times (TATs) are for clinical use only and are subject to change based on biopharma protocol requirements. Final TATs will be specified in the biopharma study contract. Only specimens fixed in 10% NBF or B plus will be accepted. All other fixatives will be rejected.
