Androgen Receptor
Use
Androgen receptor is a member of the superfamily of ligand responsive transcription regulators. Anti-androgen receptor has been useful clinically in differentiating morpheaform basal cell carcinoma (mBCC) from desmoplastic trichoepithelioma (DTE) in skin. Further applicability has been shown in all histological types of prostatic carcinoma, both therapy-responsive and therapy-unresponsive.
Special Instructions
Positively charged glass slides required to prevent background staining and prevent tissue loss. Slides should be left unbaked. Fresh tissues may be fixed in formalin for 24-72 hours by collection sites, then transferred to 70% ethanol and stored at 2-8°C for longer term storage if needed, although this is not preferred. Samples must be tested within 3 months after placing in ethanol.
Limitations
The final turn-around-times are specified in the biopharma study contract, indicating that the specified TAT is subject to change based on biopharma protocol requirements. Additionally, specimens fixed in fixatives other than 10% NBF or B plus will be rejected.
