Androgen Receptor, technical only
Use
Androgen receptor is a member of the superfamily of ligand responsive transcription regulators. Anti-androgen receptor has been useful clinically in differentiating morpheaform basal cell carcinoma (mBCC) from desmoplastic trichoepithelioma (DTE) in skin. Further applicability has been shown in all histological types of prostatic carcinoma, both therapy-responsive and therapy-unresponsive. Technical component only. Pathologist read not included.
Special Instructions
Stated turnaround times are for clinical use only and subject to change based on biopharma protocol requirements. Final TATs will be specified in the biopharma study contract. Fresh Tissues: Specimens may be fixed in formalin for 24-72 hours by collection sites, then transferred to 70% ethanol and stored at 2-8°C for longer-term storage if needed. This is NOT preferred.
Limitations
The test does not include a pathologist read. All other fixatives will be rejected except for 10% NBF or B plus. Specimens must be tested within 3 months after placing in ethanol. Specimen rejection criteria include other fixatives not specified. The storage stability of some specimens is indefinite under specific conditions but may vary based on preparation.
