Annexin A1, technical only
Use
Annexin A1 is strongly expressed on the cell membrane and occasionally in the cytoplasm of hairy cell leukemic cells, providing a highly specific and sensitive assay to differentiate hairy cell leukemia from other B-cell lymphomas. Technical component only. Pathologist read not included.
Special Instructions
Fresh Tissues: Specimens may be fixed in formalin for 24-72 hours by collection sites, then transferred to 70% ethanol and stored at 2-8°C for longer term storage if needed. This is NOT preferred. Samples must be tested 3 months after placing in ethanol. Unstained slides: Positively charged glass slides required to prevent background staining and prevent tissue loss. Slides should be left unbaked.
Limitations
This test is specifically for differentiating hairy cell leukemia from other B-cell lymphomas. It does not include pathologist interpretation, which must be performed separately. The test is not suitable for other types of leukemia or lymphoma and is not intended for general use in diagnosing other conditions.
