CA 125
Use
Cancer antigen 125 (CA125) is a glycoprotein expressed on the surface of epithelial ovarian neoplasms and various other tissues, including the endometrium, fallopian tubes, pleura, peritoneum, and pericardium. It is used as a tumor marker in the management of ovarian cancer and other conditions.
Special Instructions
Fresh tissues should be fixed in formalin for 24-72 hours at the collection site, then transferred to 70% ethanol for longer storage if needed (though not preferred). Unstained slides should use positively charged glass to prevent background staining and tissue loss.
Limitations
Test turnaround time is subject to change based on biopharma protocol requirements. Final TATs are specified in the biopharma study contract. Specimens must be fixed in 10% neutral buffered formalin or B plus. All other fixatives will lead to rejection.
