Calretinin, technical only
Use
Calretinin is a calcium-binding protein used to differentiate mesothelioma from carcinoma and schwannoma from neurofibroma. It is also used to diagnose Hirschsprung disease. This test is for the technical component only, meaning it does not include a pathologist's read.
Special Instructions
Stated turn-around-times (TATs) are for clinical use only and subject to change based on biopharma protocol requirements. Fresh tissues should be at a 20:1 fixative to tissue ratio using 10% neutral buffered formalin for 48-72 hours, preferably. Unstained slides should be positively charged to prevent background staining and tissue loss.
Limitations
Specimens must be stained using the IHC method. Only the technical component is provided; a pathologist read is not included. Specimens must be fixed in 10% neutral buffered formalin or B plus; all other fixatives will be rejected.
