CD103, technical only
Use
CD103 is a heterodimeric transmembrane surface receptor expressed by several immune system cell types. It plays a role in cell interactions and is used as a diagnostic tool in detecting hairy cell leukemia (HCL) and hairy cell leukemia variant (HCL-v). This is a technical component test only, and does not include pathologist interpretation.
Special Instructions
The test requires specimens to be fixed in 10% neutral buffered formalin (NBF) for 6-72 hours, with a preference for 48-72 hours. Formalin-fixed paraffin embedded tissue (FFPE blocks) and unstained slides should be stored and shipped at ambient temperature. Fresh tissues may be transferred to 70% ethanol for transportation after fixation. Use positively charged glass slides for unstained specimens to prevent background staining and tissue loss.
Limitations
This test does not include pathologist interpretation and is for technical use only. Specimens fixed in anything other than 10% NBF or B plus will be rejected. The stability of fresh tissue specimens is ≤72 hours, while FFPE blocks and unstained slides have indefinite stability. Incorrect specimen handling, such as using non-approved fixatives, may lead to rejection.
