CD138
Use
CD138 is a transmembrane proteoglycan expressed in various normal and malignant tissues. This protein marker is used to distinguish and quantitate plasma cells in hematolymphoid tissues, and is specifically used as a biomarker for multiple myeloma cells.
Special Instructions
Specimens may be fixed in formalin for 24-72 hours by collection sites, then transferred to 70% ethanol and stored at 2-8°C for longer term storage if needed. Samples must be tested 3 months after placing in ethanol. Positively charged glass slides required to prevent background staining and tissue loss.
Limitations
Stated turn-around-times (TATs) are for clinical use only and subject to change based on biopharma protocol requirements. Fixatives other than 10% NBF or B plus will be rejected.
