CD163
Use
CD163 is a type I membrane protein restricted in expression to the monocytic/macrophage lineage. It is reported to be present on all circulating monocytes and most tissue macrophages except those found in the mantle zone and germinal centers of lymphoid follicles, interdigitating reticulum cells, and Langerhans cells.
Special Instructions
Fresh tissues should be fixed in formalin for 24-72 hours by collection sites, then transferred to 70% ethanol and stored at 2-8°C for longer term storage if needed. Unstained slides require positively charged glass slides to prevent background staining and tissue loss. Slides should remain unbaked.
Limitations
Specimens must be fixed in 10% neutral buffered formalin (NBF) or B plus. All other fixatives will be rejected. Fresh tissues have a stability of up to 72 hours, while formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue (FFPE blocks) and slides are considered indefinite in stability. Proper shipping conditions must be maintained to protect specimens from extreme temperatures.
