CD163, technical only
Use
CD163 is a type I membrane protein restricted in expression to the monocytic/macrophage lineage. It is reported to be present on all circulating monocytes and most tissue macrophages except those found in the mantle zone and germinal centers of lymphoid follicles, interdigitating reticulum cells, and Langerhans cells. This test is technical only and does not include a pathologist read.
Special Instructions
Samples must be tested within 3 months after placing in ethanol. Positively charged glass slides are required to prevent background staining and prevent tissue loss. Slides should be left unbaked to maintain integrity during transport.
Limitations
This test evaluates only the technical component, and a pathologist read is not included. Specimens must be fixed in 10% neutral buffered formalin or B plus, as all other fixatives will be rejected. Specimen integrity must be maintained by adhering to recommended storage temperatures and stabilization post-collection.
