CD30, technical only
Use
CD30 is a transmembrane, type I, glycoprotein receptor from the tumor necrosis factor receptor (TNFR) superfamily that interacts with the CD30L cytokine ligand. CD30 antigen is reported to be expressed on the surface of multinucleated Reed Sternberg cells, classic Hodgkin lymphoma, anaplastic large cell lymphoma and subtypes, and virally transformed cells (e.g., EBV-transformed B-cells). The test provides important information related to these diseases. However, it is technical component only; pathologist read not included.
Special Instructions
Fresh Tissues: Specimens can be fixed in formalin for 24-72 hours by collection sites, then transferred to 70% ethanol and stored at 2-8°C for longer term storage. Unstained slides must use positively charged glass slides to prevent background staining and tissue loss; should be left unbaked.
Limitations
This test has technical constraints as it includes only the technical component without pathologist interpretation. Proper fixation in 10% neutral buffered formalin is essential for accurate results, and the use of non-standard fixatives will lead to specimen rejection. The precise read time following ethanol transfer must be within 3 months to ensure valid results.

Collection Instructions
Fixative should be at a 20:1 fixative to tissue ratio, 10% neutral buffered formalin (NBF) for 6-72 hours (48-72 hours preferred). Unstained slides should be formalin-fixed.
Storage Instructions
Store at 15°C to 25°C. Use a refrigerated (not frozen) gel pack during shipment to protect from extreme temperatures and separate it from the specimen.
Causes for Rejection
Specimens must be fixed in 10% NBF or B plus; all other fixatives will be rejected.
