CD36, technical only
Use
CD36 is a multifunctional glycoprotein that acts as a receptor for a broad range of ligands. CD36 is implicated in many clinical functions and is pathologically associated with platelet disorders, atherosclerosis, malaria, and Alzheimer's. Positive CD36 staining is observed in acute and chronic myeloid leukemias, Gaucher cells, myxoid liposarcoma, and plasmacytoid T-cell lymphomas.
Special Instructions
The test is technical component only and does not include a pathologist read. Fresh Tissues may be fixed in formalin for 24-72 hours by collection sites, then transferred to 70% ethanol and stored at 2-8°C for longer term storage if needed. Samples must be tested 3 months after placing in ethanol. Unstained slides must be on positively charged glass slides to prevent background staining and tissue loss. Slides should be left unbaked.
Limitations
This test is for Research Use Only (RUO) and not for diagnostic purposes. Specimens not fixed in 10% Neutral Buffered Formalin (NBF) or using B plus will be rejected. Storage and fixation parameters must be adhered to for optimal results. Technical component only, thus interpretation by a pathologist is not included.
