CD42b
Use
CD42b glycoprotein is expressed on the cell surface of megakaryocytes in bone marrow and platelets in blood vessels. Occasional staining is also observed in the basal epithelial of skin. Absence of CD42b antigen on platelets is reported to be a possible indicator of Bernard-Soulier disease.
Special Instructions
Fresh Tissues: Specimens may be fixed in formalin for 24-72 hours by collection sites, then transferred to 70% ethanol and stored at 2-8°C for longer term storage if needed. Samples must be tested 3 months after placing in ethanol. Unstained slides: Positively charged glass slides required to prevent background staining and prevent tissue loss. Slides should be left unbaked.
Limitations
Stained slides have indefinite stability. All specimens must be fixed in 10% neutral buffered formalin (NBF) or B plus. All other fixatives will be rejected.
