CK 20, technical only
Use
Cytokeratin (CK) 20 is an intermediate filament protein primarily restricted to the gastric and intestinal epithelium, urothelium, and Merkel cells. CK20 is often used in conjunction with other cytokeratin antibodies to distinguish colon carcinomas (CK20+) from ovarian, pulmonary, and breast carcinomas. Technical component only. Pathologist read not included.
Special Instructions
The test is technical only and does not include pathologist interpretation. Fresh tissues must be fixed in formalin and can be transferred to ethanol for storage. Unstained slides should be positively charged to prevent background staining and tissue loss.
Limitations
This test only detects CK20 and does not include pathologist interpretation. Specimens fixed in non-compliant fixatives will be rejected. Specimens are only supported up to three months in ethanol post-fixation.
