CK 5/6, technical only
Use
Cytokeratin (CK) 5 and CK6 are basic (type II) filaments. CK5 is expressed in a various epithelial and mesothelial cells, while CK6 is expressed by proliferating squamous cells. This antibody may be used in distinguishing malignant mesothelioma from lung adenocarcinoma and in identifying basal cells of prostate as well as basal/myoepithelial cells of breast. Technical component only. Pathologist read not included.
Special Instructions
Fresh Tissues: Specimens may be fixed in formalin for 24-72 hours by collection sites, then transferred to 70% ethanol and stored at 2-8°C for longer term storage if needed. Samples must be tested 3 months after placing in ethanol.
Limitations
Specimens must be fixed in 10% NBF or B plus. All other fixatives will be rejected. Stated turnaround times are for clinical use only and are subject to change based on biopharma protocol requirements. Final TATs will be specified in the biopharma study contract.
