Use
Cytokeratin (CK) HMW is specific for high molecular weight cytokeratins 1, 5, 10, and 14, which are found in complex epithelia and epithelial basal cells. CK HMW is specific for prostatic basal cells and stratified squamous epithelium. This test is for technical component only, pathologist read not included.
Special Instructions
Fresh Tissues: Specimens may be fixed in formalin for 24-72 hours by collection sites, then transferred to 70% ethanol and stored at 2-8°C for longer term storage if needed. Samples must be tested 3 months after placing in ethanol. Unstained slides: Positively charged glass slides required to prevent background staining and prevent tissue loss. Slides should be left unbaked.
Limitations
This test includes only the technical component. Pathologist interpretation is not provided and must be sought separately. Samples must conform to collection and handling requirements to ensure accurate results.
