Collagen IV, technical component
Use
Collagen IV is a major component of the basement membrane, providing structural support to tissues and playing a role in cellular signaling. In pathology, collagen IV is used to assess the integrity and function of basement membranes, particularly in kidney and lung diseases, as well as in the diagnosis of tumors, such as renal cell carcinoma and various metastatic cancers. Technical component only. Pathologist read not included.
Special Instructions
Specimens must be tested 3 months after placing in ethanol. Slides should be left unbaked. Samples must be tested within specified stability times to ensure accurate results.
Limitations
This test is for technical component only; interpretation by a pathologist is not included. Fixative must be 10% NBF or B plus; use of other fixatives will result in specimen rejection. Fresh tissue specimens have a limited stability of 72 hours and must be stabilized promptly to ensure validity.
