D2-40 Podoplanin, technical only
Use
Podoplanin (D2-40) is a transmembrane, oncofetal, O-linked sialoglycoprotein (mucin type) found on lymphatic endothelium, mesothelium, and fetal testis. It is involved in lymphatic differentiation and is used for identifying lymphatics such as lymphovascular invasion in vascular tumors. This test provides the technical component only, without pathologist interpretation.
Special Instructions
Fresh tissues should be fixed in 10% neutral buffered formalin for 6-72 hours, with 48-72 hours being preferred. Samples can be transferred to 70% ethanol for transportation and longer-term storage if needed.
Limitations
This test is for the technical component only, meaning it does not include pathologist interpretation. Specimens must be prepared as specified; otherwise, they may be rejected. Fresh tissues are limited by a 72-hour stability from collection to testing.
