GCDFP 15, BRST-2 protein, technical only
Use
Gross cystic disease fluid protein 15 (GCDFP-15) is one of four major component proteins found in the cystic fluid of patients with fibrocystic changes of the breast. GCDFP-15 is a marker of apocrine glandular differentiation in benign and malignant mammary epithelium.
Special Instructions
This is a technical component only; pathologist read is not included. Fresh tissues must be fixed appropriately and specimens may be transferred to 70% alcohol for transportation purposes after fixation.
Limitations
The test doesn't include a pathologist read, meaning interpretive analysis must be conducted separately. Specimens fixed in non-10% NBF solutions will be rejected, which limits the types of specimens that can be used.
