Gordon & Sweets Special Stain (Reticulum)
Use
Gordon and Sweet's reticulin stain is a silver impregnation technique used to visualize reticular fibers, which are a type of connective tissue fiber. This method results in black-stained fibers against a pale background. It is particularly useful in liver histopathology for assessing the architecture of the liver and identifying conditions such as cirrhosis.
Special Instructions
Fresh Tissue specimens may be fixed in formalin for 6-72 hours by collection sites, then transferred to 70% ethanol for long-term storage if needed. Unstained slides require positively charged glass slides to prevent background staining and tissue loss. They should be left unbaked.
Limitations
Stated turnaround times are for clinical use and are subject to change based on biopharma protocol requirements. Final TATs will be specified in the biopharma study contract.
