Myelodysplasia (MDS) Panel
Use
FISH panel test on hematologic specimens for the most common abnormalities observed in myelodysplasia syndrome (MDS) and AML with MDS-related changes. It helps in identifying specific chromosomal abnormalities such as 5 and 5q deletion, 7 and 7q deletion, gain of chromosome 8, and 20q deletion which are crucial for diagnosis and prognostication in MDS and related conditions.
Special Instructions
All attempts will be made to process and report samples received more than 72 hours post-collection. Bone marrow is the sample of choice in most heme malignancies. Stated turn-around-times (TATs) are for clinical use only and subject to change based on biopharma protocol requirements.
Limitations
Test results are subject to limitations related to specimen quality and handling, such as clotted specimens, exposure to extreme temperatures, or use of anticoagulants toxic to cells. Insufficient number of cells can also result in invalid results. Additionally, results must be interpreted in context of clinical findings and other laboratory data.
