Napsin A
Use
Napsin A is a functional aspartic protease of the pepsin family A encoded by the NAPSA gene located at chromosome 19q13.3. It usually stains positive in lung adenocarcinomas and clear cell carcinomas of the gynecologic tract, helping in the diagnosis of these conditions.
Special Instructions
Fresh tissues should be fixed in formalin for 24-72 hours by collection sites and can then be transferred to 70% ethanol for long-term storage if necessary. Slides must be positively charged and left unbaked to prevent background staining and tissue loss.
Limitations
Specimens must be fixed in 10% neutral buffered formalin (NBF) or B plus; other fixatives will result in rejection. The stability of fresh tissue is up to 72 hours, but FFPE blocks and unstained slides have indefinite stability.
