P504S, AMACR, technical only
Use
P504S is an enzyme involved in the beta-oxidation of branched-chain fatty acids. IHC staining of P504S is useful in identifying prostate carcinoma and prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia (including atypical adenomatous hyperplasia). This test provides technical component only, without a pathologist read.
Special Instructions
Samples may be fixed in formalin for 24-72 hours by collection sites, then transferred to 70% ethanol for longer storage if needed. Positively charged glass slides are required to prevent background staining. Slides should be unbaked to prevent tissue loss.
Limitations
Technical component only test means interpretation must be conducted by a qualified pathologist. Specimen fixation in fixatives other than 10% neutral buffered formalin or B plus will lead to rejection. Ensure adherence to specimen handling and transport guidelines to maintain test accuracy.
