PAN (AE1/AE3) Cytokeratin, technical only
Use
This test utilizes a broad spectrum cytokeratin cocktail for the immunohistochemistry detection of high molecular weight cytokeratins (0-6; 14-16) and low molecular weight cytokeratins (7-8; 19). It does not react towards cytokeratins 17 and 18. The test is offered as a technical component only, and does not include pathologist interpretation. Useful for identifying cytokeratins in tissue sections in various diagnostic settings.
Special Instructions
Technical only; pathologist read not included. Special considerations for specimen handling include avoiding baking the slides and ensuring they are positively charged to prevent background staining and tissue loss. Ambient storage and shipment is recommended, with the option to use refrigerated gel packs.
Limitations
The test does not detect cytokeratins 17 and 18. Specimens must be fixed in 10% neutral buffered formalin or an equivalent fixative like B plus, as other fixatives will result in rejection. Fresh tissues should be fixed for a preferred duration of 48-72 hours. Unstained slides must be accompanied by positively charged glass slides to prevent issues with staining.
