Progesterone Receptor, technical only
Use
Progesterone receptor (PR) is a breast hormone that can be used as a prognostic indicator for breast cancer. This test provides a technical component only, without pathologist interpretation. The presence or absence of PR can guide treatment decisions in breast cancer cases, indicating potential hormone therapy options and predicting tumor behavior.
Special Instructions
This test is technical only and does not include a pathologist read. Specimens must be properly fixed and meet the specified specimen criteria to avoid rejection. All procedures should be executed following the provided instructions to ensure accuracy and reliability.
Limitations
This test is limited to the assessment of progesterone receptor (PR) status through immunohistochemistry. It does not provide quantitative analysis or pathologist interpretation. Specimens fixed with solutions other than 10% neutral buffered formalin or B plus will be rejected. The test is not suited for non-breast tissues or tumors without documented clinical relevance of PR status.
