Prostate specific antigen, technical only
Use
Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) is strongly expressed in both normal and neoplastic prostatic tissues. This antibody is used to determine the prostatic origin of neoplasms in non-prostate tissues, aiding in the identification of metastatic disease. The test is for technical component only and does not include a pathologist read.
Special Instructions
Not provided.
Limitations
The test is limited to detecting the presence of prostate-specific antigen in tissue samples. Optimal fixation conditions must be followed to ensure accurate results. Specimens fixed in solutions other than 10% neutral buffered formalin or B plus will be rejected. Turnaround times can vary based on biopharma protocol requirements and specific study contracts.
