Renal cell carcinoma, technical only
Use
Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) protein marker is a cell membrane antigen that is highly expressed in clear cell RCC. This marker is especially helpful in distinguishing RCC from other malignancies with similar histological features, such as oncocytomas and urothelial carcinomas. Technical component only. Pathologist read not included.
Special Instructions
Fresh tissues should be fixed in formalin for 24-72 hours by collection sites, then transferred to 70% ethanol for longer storage at 2-8°C if needed. Samples must be tested within 3 months after transferring to ethanol. Unstained slides should use positively charged glass to avoid background staining and tissue loss.
Limitations
This test covers only the technical component; a pathologist's interpretation is not included. Specimens fixed using non-standard fixatives apart from 10% NBF or B plus will be rejected. Stability of fresh tissues is limited to 72 hours only, requiring timely processing.
