Reticulum Stain
Use
Reticulum special stain is used to highlight reticular fibers, which are composed of type III collagen typically found in lymphoid tissues, the liver, and bone marrow. This stain is particularly useful in diagnosing disorders such as hematologic malignancies, cirrhosis, and conditions involving fibrosis.
Special Instructions
Specimens may be transferred to 70% ethanol and stored at 2-8°C for longer term storage if needed, though this is not preferred. Positively charged glass slides are required to prevent background staining and reduce tissue loss. Unstained slides should remain unbaked.
Limitations
Specimens must be fixed in 10% NBF or B plus, as all other fixatives will be rejected. The turnaround times are subject to change based on biopharma protocol requirements, and final TATs specified in the biopharma study contract.
