SOX11
Use
SOX11 is a transcription factor involved in the development of various tissues and is used in pathology for identifying tumors of neural or mesenchymal origin. It is particularly useful for diagnosing malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumors (MPNSTs), as it is highly expressed in these tumors but not in benign schwannomas or other soft tissue tumors. SOX11 also helps distinguish certain types of B-cell lymphomas, such as mantle cell lymphoma.
Special Instructions
Samples must be tested 3 months after placing in ethanol. Positively charged glass slides required to prevent background staining and prevent tissue loss. Slides should be left unbaked.
Limitations
Stated turn-around-times (TATs) are for clinical use only and subject to change based on biopharma protocol requirements. Final TATs will be specified in the biopharma study contract. Specimens must be fixed in 10% NBF or B plus. All other fixatives will be rejected. SOX11 is not expressed in benign schwannomas or other soft tissue tumors.
