SYT 18q11.2 Synovial Sarcoma
Use
FISH test for Synovial sarcomas, which account for 5-10% of soft tissue sarcomas, are seen mainly in adolescents and adults aged between 15 and 45 years. More than 85-95% of them arise in the deep soft tissues of the extremities. Synovial sarcomas harbor the t(X;18) translocation.
Special Instructions
All attempts will be made to process and report samples received > 72 hours post-collection. Bone marrow is the sample of choice in most heme malignancies.
Limitations
Test is subject to biopharma protocol requirements, and final TATs will be specified in the biopharma study contract. Samples must be shipped ambient or refrigerated with a gel pack to avoid extreme temperatures. Clotted specimens or those exposed to extreme temperatures are rejected.
