TAG 72
Use
TAG-72 is a glycoprotein expressed on the surface of many epithelial tumor cells, particularly those in gastrointestinal, breast, and ovarian cancers. In pathology, TAG-72 is used to identify carcinomas, especially those of the gastrointestinal tract, and is useful for differentiating these from benign lesions.
Special Instructions
- Fresh Tissues: Specimens may be fixed in formalin for 24-72 hours by collection sites, then transferred to 70% ethanol and stored at 2-8°C for longer term storage if needed. Samples must be tested 3 months after placing in ethanol. - Unstained slides: Positively charged glass slides required to prevent background staining and prevent tissue loss. Slides should be left unbaked.
Limitations
Specimens must be fixed in 10% NBF or B plus; all other fixatives will be rejected. Ambient shipping is recommended, with a refrigerated gel pack to protect from extreme temperatures. Fresh tissues have a stability of ≤ 72 hours, FFPE blocks and unstained slides are stable indefinitely.
