CAM 5.2
Also known as: Cytokeratin LMW
Use
Anti-Cytokeratin (CAM 5.2) primarily reacts with human keratin proteins, staining most epithelial derived tissues such as liver and renal tubular epithelium, and is useful for identifying hepatocellular and renal cell carcinomas. It's less reactive with squamous cell carcinomas.
Special Instructions
Ensure the specimen block and slide identifiers are clearly written and match the requisition form. Use cold packs for transport but avoid direct contact with specimens.
Limitations
CAM 5.2 may not react with some squamous cell carcinomas, limiting its utility in differentiating these from other epithelial-derived malignancies.
