CancerTYPE ID® with reflex to NeoTYPE® Cancer Profile
Also known as: Used with Tumor of Unknown Origin (TUO), Cancer of Unknown Primary (CUP), occult primary
Use
CancerTYPE ID is a molecular cancer classifier used to identify unknown or unclear tumor types and subtypes in patients with metastatic cancer. The test uses quantitative RT-PCR to measure the expression of 92 genes in the patient's specimen and classifies the tumor by matching the gene expression profile to a database of more than 2000 known tumor types and subtypes, covering more than 95% of all solid tumors based on incidence. It reports a main cancer type with the highest probability and a list of tumor types that may be ruled out with 95% confidence.
Special Instructions
CancerTYPE ID is performed, reported, and billed separately by Biotheranostics, Inc., a Hologic Company, an independent CLIA-licensed and CAP-accredited reference laboratory. Classification with CancerTYPE ID is followed by tumor profiling for actionable biomarkers using a NeoGenomics NGS Profile appropriate for the identified tumor type.
Limitations
The test is designed to classify primary tumor types and subtypes based on gene expression profiles. It cannot be used for all tumor types, and the scope is limited to the database's coverage. It does not provide definitive diagnosis but aids in identifying probable tumor types.
