CD31
Use
CD31 is a 130 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein shared by vascular lining cells, megakaryocytes, and platelets. It is highly restricted to endothelial neoplasms among soft tissue tumors, with excellent sensitivity—100 % of angiosarcomas and hemangiomas are CD31 positive. However, Kaposi’s sarcoma is more consistently labeled by CD34 than CD31. CD31 is also used as a prognostic marker for tumor angiogenesis and can stain histiocytes.
