CD4/CD8 Ratio for BAL
Also known as: CD4/CD8 for Bronchoalveolar Lavage
Use
The CD4/CD8 Ratio test for BAL specimens is used to evaluate the immune response within the lung. The presence and ratio of lymphocytes, specifically CD4+ and CD8+ T cells, can provide insights into conditions such as sarcoidosis and other interstitial lung diseases.
Special Instructions
Markers included in this test are CD3, CD4, CD8, and CD45. This test is not intended for quantitative immune status monitoring. It is available as a global test only for bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) specimens.
Limitations
This test does not offer a quantitative measure of immune status and is not suitable for generalized immune monitoring. The test cannot be ordered as tech-only since it includes no separate professional component.
