CD68
Use
CD68 is an antibody used in immunohistochemistry for identifying macrophages in tissue sections. It shows strong staining in macrophages across various human tissues including the red pulp of the spleen and lung alveoli, and reacts with myeloid precursors. It is important in diagnosing conditions like chronic and acute myeloid leukemia, histiocytic neoplasia, and some tumors such as melanoma and renal cell carcinoma.
Special Instructions
Ensure block and slide identifiers match exactly with specimen ID as noted on requisition. Use cold pack for transportation; NY clients should provide collection date and time.
Limitations
Tumors of lymphoid origin are typically not stained by this antibody. It is used primarily for identifying macrophages and not suitable for tissues where macrophages are absent.
