CK7
Also known as: Cytokeratin 7
Use
Cytokeratin 7 (CK7) antibody reacts with proteins found in most ductal, glandular, and transitional epithelium of the urinary tract and bile duct epithelial cells. CK7 helps distinguish lung and breast epithelium (which stain positive) from colon and prostate epithelial cells (which are negative). It also reacts with many benign and malignant epithelial lesions, such as adenocarcinomas of the ovary, breast, and lung. Transitional cell carcinomas are positive and most prostate cancers are negative.
Special Instructions
A formalin‑fixed, paraffin‑embedded (FFPE) tissue block is the preferred specimen type. Alternatively, one unbaked, unstained slide for H&E staining (required) and two to three positively charged unstained slides (all cut at 4‑5 microns) are accepted. Block and slide identifiers should be clearly written and match exactly with specimen ID and requisition labels. During transport, use a cold pack not in direct contact with the specimen. New York State clients must provide date and time of collection.
