Copper Stain
Use
Copper Stain is used as a special immunohistochemistry (IHC) stain to demonstrate copper deposits in formalin‑fixed, paraffin‑embedded (FFPE) tissue specimens. It aids in the histopathologic identification of copper accumulation in tissues, potentially supporting diagnoses of conditions associated with copper overload or deposition.
Special Instructions
This test is technical service only (Tech Only). For specimen submission, a FFPE tissue block is preferred; alternatively, one unbaked, unstained H&E slide (required) plus two to three positively charged unstained slides (cut at 4–5 microns) should be submitted. Specimen block and slide identifiers must match exactly with the requisition. Use cold pack for transport, avoiding direct contact with the specimen; New York State clients should also provide date and time of collection.
