DOG1 Immunohistochemistry (IHC)
Use
DOG1 is a cell surface protein selectively expressed in gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST). It identifies more cases than c-Kit antibody in GIST cases with Kit mutations and detects both cKIT negative and PDGFRA mutated GIST cases that may benefit from imatinib mesylate, increasing the accuracy of GIST diagnosis.
Special Instructions
When preparing the specimen, ensure that block and slide identifiers are clearly written and match exactly with the specimen ID on the requisition.
Limitations
DOG1 may show immunoreactivity in fewer cases of mesenchymal, epithelial tumors, and melanomas compared to cKIT. It might not detect all types of tumors beyond GIST.
