Use
The gene DPC4 (deleted in pancreatic carcinoma 4, also called SMAD4) is located at 18q21.3. It is frequently mutated and deleted in pancreatic carcinomas (~55%) and less frequently in colon carcinomas (20–22%). Loss of expression is specific for pancreatic malignancy (in‑situ or invasive) versus benign process, making this immunohistochemical assessment especially helpful in biopsies.
