HPV DNA Tissue Testing
Also known as: HPV DNA, HPV genotyping (not for Pap), human papillomavirus, HPV Tissue Testing
Use
This test is intended for qualitative detection and genotyping of human papillomavirus (HPV) from formalin‑fixed paraffin‑embedded (FFPE) solid tumor tissue. It detects low‑risk HPV types 6 and 11 (reported together as 6/11, as they cannot be distinguished) and high‑risk types 16, 18, 31, 33, 45, and 58, aiding in identification of HPV type in tissue samples to inform diagnostic interpretation.
Special Instructions
Preferred specimen is FFPE solid tumor tissue; alternatively, one H&E slide plus 5–10 unstained slides (5–10 µm thickness) may be submitted. Slides must be positively charged and fixed in 10% neutral buffered formalin. Zinc fixatives must not be used. For transport, use a cold pack but avoid direct contact with the specimen.
