MLH1 Promoter Methylation Analysis
Also known as: MLH1 Methylation
Use
This assay is performed on tumor tissue to detect hypermethylation of the MLH1 gene promoter. Analysis should be considered with IHC, BRAF, and/or MSI to gain comprehensive insights into tumor genetics.
Special Instructions
Use positively-charged slides and 10% NBF fixative. Do not use zinc fixatives. Transport with cold pack without direct contact with specimen. NYS clients need to provide date and time of collection.
Limitations
The detection of hypermethylation is limited to the MLH1 gene promoter, and results are reported as a percentage of methylated DNA. Interpretation should be integrated with additional analyses such as IHC, BRAF, and/or MSI.
