MSH2 Immunohistochemistry (IHC)
Use
Human mismatch repair protein 2 (MSH2) is involved in the initial recognition of mismatched nucleotides during the post replication mismatch repair process. Loss of MSH2 function leads to the accumulation of replication errors, which in turn may be responsible for the multiple mutations required for multistage carcinogenesis. Mutations in the MSH2 gene are linked to hereditary nonpolyposis colon cancer and to sporadic cancers that exhibit microsatellite instability.
Special Instructions
A formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue block is preferred specimen type or one (1) unbaked, unstained slide for H&E staining (required) and two to three (2-3) positively charged unstained slides (all cut at 4-5 microns) for each test/antibody ordered. Block and slide identifiers should be clearly written and match exactly with the specimen ID and specimen labeling as noted on the requisition.
