Pan-Cytokeratin
Also known as: CK AE1/AE3
Use
The Pan‑Cytokeratin immunohistochemistry (IHC) test uses a cocktail of monoclonal antibodies AE1 and AE3 recognizing acidic and basic subfamilies of cytokeratin, enabling broad detection of human epithelial cells. It is used in surgical pathology to identify carcinomas and other tumors with epithelial components or differentiation, aiding in distinguishing epithelial from non‑epithelial tumors.
Special Instructions
Global interpretation is available only for sentinel nodes. For Pan‑Cytokeratin performed on sentinel nodes, refer to Carcinoma Micromets testing.
