Use
This test identifies amplification of the PDGFRA gene, which is associated with certain brain cancers. Amplifications of this gene can play a role in cancer pathogenesis by driving abnormal cell growth and proliferation.
Special Instructions
For tech-only services, send a paraffin block and a circled H&E slide. The H&E slide is required for technical assessment.
Limitations
This FISH assay is specific to PDGFRA amplifications at 4q12 and may not detect other genetic alterations. The test is subject to limitations of FISH methodology, including signal resolution and hybridization efficiency.
