SALL4
Use
SALL4 is a newly identified zinc-finger transcriptional factor required for maintaining embryonic stem cell pluripotency by modulating OCT4. It is a novel sensitive and highly specific marker for metastatic germ cell tumors, particularly useful for detecting metastatic yolk sac tumors.
Special Instructions
The preferred specimen is a formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue block. Alternatively, one unbaked, unstained slide for H&E staining and two to three positively charged unstained slides are acceptable, all cut at 4-5 microns. Ensure block and slide identifiers match the specimen ID on the requisition.
Limitations
Technical constraints in the test are not specified, but correct identification and labeling of the specimen are crucial. The specimen must be stored and transported properly using a cold pack, ensuring no direct contact with the specimen.
