Wilms tumor susceptibility gene 1 protein (WT1) has diagnostic utility in distinguishing mesothelioma from adenocarcinoma in pleural tumor tissue sections, and shows diffuse staining in most ovarian serous carcinomas and in all Wilms tumors.

Collection Instructions
A formalin‑fixed, paraffin‑embedded (FFPE) tissue block is preferred specimen type or one unbaked, unstained slide for H&E staining (required) plus two to three positively charged unstained slides (all cut at 4‑5 microns) for each test/antibody ordered. Block and slide identifiers should match exactly with the specimen ID on the requisition.
Storage Instructions
Use a cold pack for transport, ensuring the cold pack is not in direct contact with the specimen. NYS clients please provide date and time of collection.
